I wanted a dehydrator and decided to purchase this one instead of the more expensive models. I planned to see if I used a dehydrator enough to justify getting a "better" one. Well, I used it plenty this summer. Mostly for drying herbs from my garden. I am very happy with it and may or may not upgrade. This one did the job just fine.

One major reason I bought this dehydrator is because a couple of other reviewers said it was "Made in the USA."
Wrong...
Sure, on the box, it says in giant letters "Made in USA," but in small print around that it adds the caveat "Of US and Foreign Components." Upon close inspection of the machine itself all one has to do is flip over the main part of it--the top heating/blowing/temperature control element--and see embossed very prominently and proudly right there underneath: "Made in CHINA" (emphasis added). Personally, I try to avoid buying things that are made in Marxist/Communist countries.
Maybe the bottom of the unit and the trays in between are made in the USA. Perhaps only the box is. There's no telling. All I know is the heart of the machine isn't. It'd be great if Amazon could let us know countries of origin for the products they sell. I don't think I'm the only person left who'd rather "Buy (REAL) American" than anything else.

We were excited to receive a food dehydrator and I prepared the fruit for our first experience drying run. After being plugged in for five minutes and working, it suddenly stopped and has not started since. The manufacturer said they would repair it if we paid for shipping. When we finally found the seller, which is not Amazon by way - it appears Amazon merely contracts with others to ship out products, they told us it had been more than 30 days and they would let us know if they could accept it. We were not told beforehand that it would be so difficult to arrange a return for a defective product. Such an experience makes me wary about buying from Amazon, as you really don't know what will be the policy of the behind-the-scenes seller (this time it was "The Price Pros") with regard to defective products. Buying books and CDs is one thing, but buying products such as this is another. Maybe the seller will be understanding enough to accept our "late return" - just a few days over their 30 day limit, but nevertheless we shall think twice about such a purchase from Amazon again. Hopeful and frustrated in Pasadena.

This dehydrator is exactly as advertised, easy to use, pretty quite and easy clean up. The Jerky gun and seasoning were an added bonus - never even thought of making jerky with lean ground meat. This jerky gun is like a cookie shooter, just makes the jerky flat or in round tubes. I have only used the flat strips, have zero complaints. My husband took a batch of jerky made from lean ground beef on his dove hunt, they could not believe it was ground beef - they loved it. I have also used the dehydrator f

It performed very well in making jerky, though needs added trays to do more than about 3 lbs of meat at one time.
Really my only dissapointment was the feeling of being conned by the large "Made in USA" advertisement on the outside of the box. You can feel the pbysical quality is better than most completely China-made versions, but to my surprise, on the bottom of the dehydrator lid component (where the heater and fan blower are encased) it says "MADE IN CHINA". Very disapointing.

Our family eats lots of jerky and this kit work great and easy to clean. The directions for the jerky cure say add 1 pound meat but I find each pack will make 2 pounds and less salty that way. This jerky kit and our dehydrator save us a ton of money, I can make a pound of jerky for the cost of a few sticks and I control the meat quality not some tight wad factory owner.

I read the other reviews and some people had trouble with this product, so before I used mine I sprayed the inside with nonstick spray. it worked great and was fun and quick. When I took it apart to clean it, I noted that it actually had arrived broken. where the metal bar was attached to the plastic, the plastic was cracked. I figured this would become unsanitary pretty quick and there was no way to fix it, so I had to return it. I would buy the same one again, but only if I could look at it first to make

It worked great, until after about 20 batches, the bottom tray melted and electronics crapped out. With a 12 yr. warranty and ~$140 purchase I expected I'd have a dehydrator for life, wrong. I tried all the phone #'s, even a Canadian one, all the email addresses and they are all bunk/disconnected or don't even exist. Interesting the site appears to still be selling items though, hmmmmm. If anyone has had success with an issue like this, I would love some suggestions. -Aa

I bought this item for my dad last year for his birthday and he absolutely loves it! He enjoys experimenting with drying different foods like bananas and apples, but deer meat is his favorite and he tries adding a variety of spices to each tier. He's been bragging about it at the American Legion where he hangs out, and brings bags full of jerky to share with his friends. I love jerky and this item makes delicious jerky. This item is easy to clean, and not too large for storage.

I received the L Equip FilterPro Food Dehydrator on July 3. The weekend of the 4th I started drying some apples. Everything ok. A few days later started drying $25.00 worth of apricots. About 11 hours after starting, the unit turned off and would not restart. Called the 800 warranty number and had to leave a message. No return call. Since I am about 20 miles from the importer in North Salt Lake, Utah (the unit is made in Korea)I called their 801 regular number. Was greeted by a "Good Morning, service department" individual. I explained the problem and asked if I could just bring the defective unit in and have it repaired. "we don't repair defective units" was the response. He was willing to send me a new unit! Only problem was he would not have any in for THREE TO FOUR WEEKS!
I replied that maybe I should return the defective unit to Amazon and order a competitive brand. He replied "That's probably a good idea"!
Buyer beware if you are concerned about timely warranty repairs.
