A jerky gun is a kitchen appliance used to extrude raw ground meat into thin flat strips or round sticks that are suitable for dehydrating into jerky. A jerky gun will typically consist of a tube or barrel for loading the ground meat into, a press or stomper to pack the ground meat towards the extrusion end of the tube, a squeezable handle or trigger to eject the raw ground meat from the tube and nozzles that fit on the end of the tube and form the extruded meat into strips or sticks.
A jerky gun’s tube will usually hold between one half to one and one half pounds of raw ground meat. The nozzles normally form strips 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick by up to 1 inch wide and sticks 1/2 inch in diameter.
